When Children’s Heaven opened its doors in July of 2004, it had 5 girls under its protective umbrella. Today, Children’s Heaven is proud to support more 80 children in our community sponsorship program. Our girls range in ages from 6 to 18 and at school they span grades Kindergarten through 12th. Of our girls, 71% come from single parent households. Of the remaining children 17% have lost both parents and 12% have both parents living.
Throughout the year, our girls participate in various programs and initiatives designed to take care of and meet the needs of our children and their extended families. “When I was a baby my Mother said, ‘Always you must have interest to grow, to do work, to change your life, and to create new things, but you must not have an interest to have husband and child because they are not important for you.’ I heard her and she said, ‘Don’t forget it. Put it in your mind.’ I don’t forget it still now because my Mother suffered by men and she wants us to have better.” ~Age 14
“I don’t have a Father. He is dead. I live with my Mother. I don’t have a sister, a brother, an Aunt, or an Uncle so I feel bad. Me and my Mother are very poor because she is sick by HIV/AIDS and she has no work. But God helps me and finds me Children’s Heaven.” ~Age 13
